A little more info about our Super Premium Cameroon cigars. For those of you who were paying attention, you may be asking how an African named wrapper like Cameroon is grown in Indonesia. Basically, the same way Connecticut wrapper is grown in Ecuador. And the same as when you hear "Cuban-seed" when discussing tobaccos grown anywhere other than Cuba. Seeds are taken from that tobacco and planted and cultivated elsewhere. When experts apply their knowledge of the art and science of growing tobacco, the results can be quite rewarding. This is exactly the case with our Super Premium Cameroon.

Mild-Medium Body smoke. For those of you that have not experienced a fine Candela cigar, we present one here.
Although not as well known as other wrappers, Candela cigars offer up complex, earthy flavors and a lush aroma that is quite approachable. And of course, who can miss the unmistakable green color of the leaf. And check out the shaggy foot!
A little more info about our Super Premium Candela cigars. Before the tobacco plant has fully matured, the leaves are harvested and dried quickly to lock in the plant’s natural chlorophyll content. Hence, the Candela wrappers does exhibit a noticeable green hue.
At one time, Candela was the most popular wrapper sold in the U.S. That was a while ago (early 70's) and was replaced by Connecticut shade wrappers as the most popular. Today, Candela cigars are considered retro and are now seeing a resurgence in the market. If you are looking for a high-quality example of a fine Candela cigar, you found one right here.

After fermentation, many tobaccos are aged for two to three years in bales made of burlap, or in palm bark tercios before rolling. Some tobaccos may receive as many as seven or more years of aging. Tannins are released while sugar levels increase to deliver a rounder, mellower, distinctly aromatic taste to the tobacco leaves.
And then, the finished cigars can be stored for additional time to marry the blend's flavors. All according the the wishes of the master blender. If done correctly, aging can and does increase the quality of of the finished cigar.

Leaves from different parts of the tobacco plant are used in specific areas of cigar construction, and each leaf has its own name: Ligero, Viso, Seco, Volado, and Medio Tiempo. Don't want to go into a rabbit hole of details here, but know that different parts of the tobacco plant produce different smoking experiences.
Some are more rare than other parts making them naturally more expensive. Super Premium cigars tend to be blended for more nuance, more subtle flavors and more specific strengths and character and this requires more care in choosing the part of the tobacco plant when blending the cigar.

This is where the rubber meets the road. Combining different tobaccos to achieve a desired result. Typically, more time and effort is taken for Super Premium class cigars in the blending phase versus Standard Premiums.
Because of the inherent complexity of a Super Premium smoke, this blending process takes on more importance. Blend and test. Blend and test. Blend and test. Over and over again until it is as it should be. And this process can take weeks and months to do right.

Ahhh...the rolling of the cigar. Did you know that many cigar manufacturers reserve the better rollers for their higher end cigars? Makes sense, right? More expensive materials as in the tobaccos. Higher expectations from the consumer. Potentially more difficult to roll because of the increased number of tobaccos used in the filler. Add to the above the fact that certain tobacco leaves are just more difficult to handle.
Super Premium cigars are all the above and because of that they require a little more care during the rolling of the cigar.
Now - in defense of our Standard Premiums...no defense necessary. The above does not in anyway take away from the goodness you will find in our Standard Premiums. Not at all. In fact, the opposite is true.
Choice is good. We have two boxes available for your cigars. Our gold foiled box with clear top is the base presentation. We have a beautiful wood finished Spanish cedar lined humidor box if you need a box presentation upgrade. Click on the box icon to see the presentation options.
Nicaragua has soil and weather condition comparable to Cuba, which makes it ideal for growing tobacco. Nicaragua has some of the most fertile soil for tobacco, so manufacturers are increasingly sourcing their tobacco from various regions in Nicaragua.
The Jalapa valley area is in the Nueva Segovia Department and is one of the 4 regions in Nicaragua known for producing world-class tobacco. The Jalapa valley has granular and reddish-brown soils that produce complex and wonderfully aromatic tobacco.
Family owned and operated, the farm acreage and factory is located in the Jalapa valley. They operate a tight low-overhead business that allows them to produce high-quality cigars for a very reasonable price. Exactly the type of producer we look for.
